Ysgol y Lawnt in Caerphilly successfully engaged the whole community in their May Fair Trade event. They decided on an Africa theme and asked children and parents create costumes from reclaimed or recycled materials. On the day there was a parade to show off the outfits as well as stalls including Fair Trade crafts and information about the people who made the products. The Eco-Fashion club even got involved and made bracelets and shopping bags to sell. There was also a Fairtrade hamper, tasting sessions and Fairtrade refreshments. The children collected 70 pledge cards from parents who wanted to Take a Step for Fairtrade!
