Shw’mae! Diolch am ddod i Gynhadledd Rhyngwladol Trefi Masnach Deg 2019! Thank you for attending the International Fair Trade Towns Conference 2019!

We are expecting over 250 people from 20 countries to come and learn about all things fair trade, trade justice and sustainable trade and get involved in one of the world’s largest movements.

Below are the joining instructions for the Friday Night Dinner, the Saturday & Sunday Conference and for Stallholders. These instructions have also been emailed to you, depending on which tickets you have purchased.

Information for Guests: 18th October, Friday Night Dinner -  Senedd, Pierhead St, Cardiff CF99 1NA: 6pm – 8pm

If you are also attending the conference on Saturday and/or Sunday, please ensure that you have purchased a ticket on Eventbrite. We look forward to welcoming you to the world’s first Fair Trade Nation.

Friday 18th October: Senedd, Pierhead St, Cardiff CF99 1NA       6-8 pm

Welcome dinner with International and Welsh culture and food. Hosted by Jane Hutt AM, joined by Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner “How Fair Trade helps us to be globally responsible”

Please arrive by 5.45pm to allow enough time for security. The evening will then begin at 6pm. There will be a cloakroom available for use for guests travelling with luggage.

6 – 6.45pm Welcome, entertainment and speeches

6.45 – 7.45pm Dinner with Welsh and Fair Trade ingredients

Transport & Parking

The assembly has advice on their website. There is free on-street parking from 6pm available outside the venue, near the norwegian church, alongside the dock and Bute Street. For more information on parking, please see here or here. There is information regarding public transport on our website.


Whilst this building is welcoming to the public, there is a high level of security on arrival, so please do not be alarmed. Please arrive with enough time to go through security before the start time of the evening. Please read through this advice before arrival.

Dress Code

There is no specific dress code. You are welcome to wear your national dress and of course anything Fair Trade.

The event will end at 8pm, where we there will an opportunity to meet up and continue the discussions and celebrations.

Information for Delegates: Saturday & Sunday

  • Conference Day 1: Saturday 19th October – 9am – 6pm Location: City Hall, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3ND

Please arrive from 9am for registration. We will require your name only, so you do not need to bring along a printed copy of your ticket. The conference will then begin at 10am. For information regarding public transport in Cardiff and parking at City Hall, please visit the travel & accommodation page. If you have accessibility requirements and require car parking, please email with ‘parking’ as the subject title.

There will be a cloakroom available for use for guests travelling with luggage. Lunch will be provided, which will cater for all dietary requirements stated on your bookings.

We have a very exciting agenda planned, to find out more, read our conference pack. Take note of our Interactive Zone, with lots of stalls to shop from – don’t forget some cash! You will be provided with a copy of the pack when you arrive on Saturday morning (along with a few extra fairtrade goodies!)

  • 25th Anniversary Celebration of the FAIRTRADE Mark, Dinner and Socialising (Optional): Saturday 19th October – 7.30pm – 11.00pm

Location: Temple of Peace, King Edward VII Ave, Cardiff CF10 3AP

The Fairtrade Foundation are hosting a 25th anniversary party of the FAIRTRADE Mark at the Temple of Peace and we would love to celebrate with you all. Your weekend conference ticket covers this event. There will be Fairtrade and local food and drinks provided, along with a cash bar.

  • Conference Day 2: Sunday 20th October – 9am – 12.45pm

Location: City Hall, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3ND

See day 1 for details. There will be refreshments provided on arrival and the conference will finish in time for you to explore Cardiff and have lunch at our numerous bars and restaurants, including a variety of independent Victorian arcades.

  • Fair Trade Faith Service (Optional): Sunday 20th October – 6pm

Location: St John the Baptist City Parish Church, The Hayes, Cardiff

There will be a Fair Trade Faith Service held at St John the Baptist City Parish Church. This regular service has been themed Fair Trade for the Conference. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Information for stallholders

Please ensure that all stallholders and volunteers you have attending have signed up for a conference ticket on Eventbrite, so that we can cater for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you to the world’s first Fair Trade Nation.

City Hall Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3ND

Optional drop-off: Friday 18th October: 9am – 12pm

  1. Park at side entrance to City Hall (shown below)

  2. Clearly label your items with your organisation’s name

  3. Speak to security at the top of the steps

  4. Store your items in Room 149

Drop-off / Set-up: Saturday 19th October: 8am – 9am (If you have already dropped off go to number 3)

  2. Take your items straight into the Lower Hall (Interactive/Zone)

  3. Please then move your car to the front car park and give the code to the parking attendant

Stallholders can drop-off items on either Friday or Saturday, but cannot set-up until Saturday. All items left at City Hall overnight will be safe and secure. Please liaise with the venue to inform them of your intended drop-off time and any further queries: (029) 2087 1736

  • Saturday 19th October: 9am – 3.45pm (lunch at 12.30)

We expect you to be at your stalls between 1pm – 3.50pm, however stalls can be open to delegates from 9am – 5pm at your discretion. Lunch will be provided for stallholders only from 12.30pm

  • Sunday 20th October: 9am – 1pm

Stalls can be open from 9am – 1pm. Packing away of stalls can begin after this time.

We will not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to any personal belongings or stall items left unattended on the premises.
