Funding consultant

Fair Trade Wales is looking for a funding consultant who can use their skills to develop a funding map, increase Fair Trade Wales income through small funds, and deliver several larger funding applications in collaboration with the Fair Trade Wales team.

Our 2020-2024 strategy lists our ambitions beyond our current capacity for each of our strategic goals. The main purpose of this work is to enable Fair Trade Wales to become more resilient through widening our income streams from trusts and funders. Having capacity to apply for funding will enable us to further our ambitions in supporting activists, creating partnerships and advocating for more Fair Trade commitments from Government, into reality.

The work is in three phases:

  1. Update our database of eligible funders and grant-making bodies (improving processes) (Sept-Oct)
  2. Identify and contact a range of small trusts and funds for small amounts of unrestricted funding (£500-£2k) (Oct-Jan)
  3. Increase our income through completing several larger funding bids (£10k-£50k) and trust letters with support from the Head of Fair Trade Wales (Dec-April)

This project and post is funded by the Third Sector Resilience Fund for Wales Phase 3 Scheme, managed and administered by WCVA on behalf of the Welsh Government.

Details

The successful candidate(s) will work closely with the Head of Fair Trade Wales. This work is in three phases. You are welcome to apply for some or all of the phases. We cannot exceed £9,600 for the budget for all three phases, and expect this to be around 2-3 days work a month for 8 months.

These are September 2022 – April 2023, with a gradual start and more focussed work at the time of the larger bids taking place December 2022 – April 2023, depending on identified application requirements.

How to apply

Email a short Expression of Interest and CV to aileen@fairtradewales.org.uk by 12noon on Tuesday 19 July. One or two paragraphs will be acceptable for the Expression of Interest.

We will be in touch when we’ve had a look through the interested emails (21 July), and invite those shortlisted to submit a short project proposal (2 August) in response to our brief. We have put together a brief for those shortlisted candidates which can help you understand us more as an organisation and our funding needs – who we are, what we do, who our stakeholders are and what we would like to do. We will also offer online informal conversations w/c 25 July for those shortlisted if they wish to discuss any aspects of the project.
