Bridgend-based vocational training company ESG Cymru have taken their first steps to support Fair Trade this summer.
ESG Cymru provides vocational training for people in work. In partnership with Fair Trade Wales they have developed a series of activities to help assessors and learners alike learn more about the importance of fair trade to people and communities around the world.
They began their journey by holding a World Cup sweepstake with a hamper full of delicious Fair Trade goodies as a prize for the winner. Staff were encouraged to sign up to the Fair Trade Wales mailing list and check out the website to learn more about Wales as a Fair Trade Nation.
In August a training event is planned for assessors to explore how they can engage their learners in Fair Trade and the link to Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship, an important part of education in Wales.
The company will then explore how to become a Fair Trade workplace through actions such as buying Fair Trade tea and coffee for meetings, running awareness events and creating a policy.
Their actions are key part of developing Wales as a Fair Trade Nation and ESG Cymru have shown how those involved in work-based learning can also get involved and show their support.
