Development Co-ordinator needed – Wales Alliance for Global Education

The Wales Alliance for Global Education (WAGE) is seeking an experienced person to provide support and capacity over the summer months to develop the alliance and progress the debate on global education in Wales. Management of the role and activities will be provided by Fair Trade Wales with support given by members of WAGE. We are seeking a dynamic, flexible and professional person who can shape the next phase for global learning at a crucial time in Wales. This position is funded by DEEEP.

Position title: WAGE Development Co-ordinator

Contract details: 26 days (between end of April and 14th September, specific working days to be discussed and agreed)

Funding available: £3,120 (excludes travel, office and materials costs covered in project budget)

Location: Home working possible with some regular travel to Cardiff

Duties will include:

Preparing resources and materials including:

• Creating case studies of effective practice

• Creating briefing papers on the current relevance of ESDGC for policy makers

Developing capacity of WAGE including:

• Creating communications plan for the group

• Expanding the membership and linking with other relevant partnerships

 Initiating discussion on global education in Wales

• Co-ordinating awareness raising event for Assembly Members and policy makers

• Co-ordinating global education event for teachers, policy makers, practitioners and organisations

Person Specification:

Essential

• Interest and enthusiasm for global education

• Knowledge of ESDGC policy and practise and the political system in Wales

• Experience of organising and evaluating events

• Experience working with, or within, cross-sector partnerships or working groups

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and experience of production of resources

• Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines

Desirable

• Experience of formal education • Experience of delivering training sessions

• Experience working with policy makers and Ministers

• Ability to communicate in Welsh
