During this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight, Ysgol Bro Pedr invited its feeder primaries to spend the day at the school to meet pupils and teachers and enjoy participating in workshops with a Fairtrade focus. The day began with a welcome from the Head teacher and a presentation by a Fairtrade banana farmer. This session was followed by five fun workshops: a banana relay race and making healthy smoothies with bicycle power lead by the PSE co-ordinator, a look at where are our food comes from with a teacher from the Geography Department, a Fair Shares lesson looking at how the numbers stack up with the schools Numeracy Coordinator, a Fairtrade football penalty shoot-out with 5×60 officer and a drumming lesson from Ghanaian master drummer Emmanuel Okuni.
A hundred and twenty pupils attended in total and senior pupils at Bro Pedr were on hand to help throughout the day and manage the Fair Trade café which was full of Fairtrade goodies donated by the Co-op and Sainsburys.
A huge well done to all involved in this fantastic event!
