Mid Wales Leads the Way With Fair Trade

Residents of Mid Wales understand more about Fair Trade and its importance for the developing world than the rest of the country according to a recent survey commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Almost 90% of those polled from Mid Wales recognized the Fairtrade logo and said they knew what it stood for and nearly 50% claimed to understand a lot about the subject, a significantly higher percentage than the rest of Wales.

Kate Meakin, Fair Trade Wales' Towns and Counties Coordinator said:

‘These results are great news for Mid Wales and show that the Fair Trade message is very strong in that region.'

She said:

'We want to build on this success and create a Fair Trade group in Powys that can continue the good work and contribute towards Wales' status as the World's only Fair Trade Nation.'

Fair Trade Wales are inviting anyone interested in becoming involved in a Fair Trade County group to get in touch. Contact Kate Meakin on kate@fairtradewales.com / 02920 803293 for more details.
